[Jacob-list] AGM

Carl

I can only assume that when you host this AGM you do so not to conflict with the events happening in that area of the US since most of the people attending are from that area. I would have liked to attend the AGM but it isn't meant to be. So, it is really a dead issue.

Hello Fellow Jacob Fans,

I thought I would put in my feelings on the AGM situation.
JSBA's AGM is suppose to rotate and it is difficult to find a member that has the room for parking, nearby motels, etc. and willing to take on the work involved in hosting an AGM. When it can be held in conjunction with a fiber event like Estes Park last year and this year's AGM there are parking facilities, motels, and other closely related things available to see also. Also instead of one member having to do all the work three or four or more can work together to host it and make it easier on everyone involved.
It is unfortunate that it conflicted with the NJ event and it may conflict with some other event somewhere else in the United States, but JSBA is a United States wide organization and our AGM is our once a year Big Event. If we attempted to avoid a conflict with every other event in the whole United States how would we ever find a date that someone would host it?
It sounds like a lot of people attend the NJ event, and that is great, but how many JSBA members attend it from say California, Iowa, Alabama, Michigan, etc. Remember we are a United States organization. Next year the AGM will be in the West so I'm sure everyone that would miss the NJ event this year will be back next year and that if the situation is explained to those in charge at NJ they will be understanding.
I sure hope Judy and I can attend the AGM this year and we plan to do so. We enjoy the AGMs very much. We enjoy meeting members we have not met in person before and the Jacob discussions and seeing how our Jacobs compare to what members in other areas of the country have, etc. JSBA AGMs ARE GREAT!

My Regards to Everyone,
Carl Fosbrink

Linda

Your right it really doesn't affect the whole, only one part. I am just surprised. I thought this was important to JSBA and its members in the surrounding area but I guess not. It's done and I am done.

Peggy,

Do you have any idea of the events and happenings that would conflict with ANY date we picked? There were limited dates open for the facility. We wanted a later AGM so that more breeders would have the opportunity to bring lambs. I picked the date. I had no idea of the conflict with the NJ fair at that time. Some people have communicated they are pleased with the new date as last year's date conflicted with other events. I am sorry this is a conflict for you and I will sure miss seeing you at the AGM.
