It's a sad day here at Stonecroft Manor -- our beautiful Jacob ram, Southwind Sir Lancelot, died this morning.  Lance had been injured in Dec. while fighting with another ram - the vet believed it was either a brain stem or spinal cord injury - and he has never fully recovered despite steroids and other medical interventions.  Over the last 6 wks. Lance has been declining......and yesterday he was no longer able to stand or walk and by this morning he appeared to be paralyzed from the neck down.  The only humane thing to do was to put him down - and he will be sorely missed.  He was truly a gentleman, both with his Jacob girlfriends, and with me - I could easily halter him and lead him from meadow to mead.  Lance has also produced beautiful lambs over the years.....he was only bred to two ewes last Fall and  Bideawee Claire has already lambed, producing two ram lambs and Unzicker Primrose has yet to lamb.
