Thanks to all for the responses, I may well just fence around the  
garlic as it is the only thing in there at this early time.  I have  
let them eat down the garden in the fall.  I also give them bolted  
greens all summer long and they have always liked having broccoli  
plants to chew on.  Also note, when you are tired of swiss chard you  
can slip it to the sheep and the enthusiastic spouse will think it  
has slowed down and you won't be eating it all the time...
