Sometime around 06:22 5/16/2006, ACAMDA at aol.com typed:

When we had a goat die of a mysterious illness ten years ago our
Small Ruminants vet suggested that it could be rabies, and we talked
about adding rabies vaccines to our standard ones. After a necropsy,
it turned out to be the other prime possibility, Listeriosis (sp),
and we've never opted to vaccinate against rabies.

If there were a lot of cases of rabies in my area, and I felt my
stock had the same chance of getting exposed as my dogs or cats did,
I might consider vaccinating against it. I'd have to look in to milk
and meat withdrawal times, since half our animals are dairy
goats. But I'm very conservative (gosh, I get to say that about
something!) when it comes to vaccinating, and don't like to add
additional ones without reason.
