Hello List,

We have just recently began raising Jacob's sheep and have yet to do any breeding. Presently, we have a set of twins (one male/one female) and a sister of the twins who will be two years old in March. We want to begin breeding, but are having trouble finding Jacobs breeders in our area (we live just north of Spokane in Colbert, Washington). We were thinking of trading the two year old ewe for a ram from another herd. Would anyone in the WA/OR/ID area be interested in something like this? Sheep are registered and e-pictures are available, upon request.

We are also interested in purchasing a Ram.

Does anyone know if we should expect problems when putting sheep from two different herds into one pasture?

I will be preparing to shear the sheep for the first time this spring. Should we build a stantion for this or can any of you reccomend a better way to ease the shearing process?

Our sheep are considered miniature jacobs, although they don't seem that much smaller than the pictures I've seen of the standard breed. Does anyone know if it will pose a problem to breed a standard ram with a minature ewe or vise versa? I'm thinking carrying and birthing problems for the ewe.

  Thanks in advance,
