My daughter, Marie, got Jacobs at age 12, and never had a big problem with
horns. Her first pair was one with 2 horns and one with 4. We had no
experience with livestock unless you count chickens since she was 11. We
had a friend who is 17 yo who got 2 Jacobs and she got one horn near the eye
and had stitches, but her mother was more upset than she was - she cried in
the emergency room cause she knew her mother would want to get rid of them!
LOL I think that anyone who is into livestock realizes there may be
injuries, comes with the territory. And as far as giving sheep, she has
gotten all of hers free except her 9th (4 horn ram lamb.)
Sue (and Marie)
But I did not want to donate a horned sheep to a youth - does anyone else
give away sheep except at the MD wool festival and the like?
What about a 2-horn sheep? I think the most dangerous thing about the
horns in ewes is the possibility of being poked in the eye and/or face with
the upper horns (been there, done that). It's not the same kind of issue
with 2 horns that curve back.
