[Jacob-list] Graying Factor in Lilac Carriers

Hi Everyone,
Could those who have worked with lilacs describe the graying sometimes seen in black and white jacobs carrying the lilac gene.  Is it a actual fading of the dark spots or sprinkling of white hairs within the dark spots?
