Hi...have worked on -a weak lamb (someone else's Jacob cross who didn't stand
until five days old). This was a poor start/hypothermia thing. Good outcome.

However, I've just lost the best ram lamb I've ever had...he died at two days
old . He was 7 kilos at birth and beautifully marked. Couldn't stand,
couldn't suck properly, but could hold his head up, show hunger, was alert, and
didn't seem to have brain damage. His mum always has large ram lambs, so no
distocia either. And a degree of rigidity in his limbs - but Mum was fully vaccinated
so not tetanus.

Antibiotics (tet and penicillin), and a vit jab which includes Se. Cu
deficiencies can also be implicated with neurological troubles. There isn't anything
else AFAIK and we have very experienced sheep vets here (Mid-Wales...more
sheep than people by a looong way). Neurological problems in lambs of any age are
a nightmare.
