Dear Gary,
I'm so sorry about your ewe and the blue tongue thingie, so that she isn't
pregnant. It is hard to deal with such things, when you are hoping for a
new crop of lambs.
And I"m sorry you saw my remarks as rude. I didn't mean to be rude or
hurtful to anyone, but rather to point out, as several others have since,
that we need to understand that volunteers do this stuff out of the kindness
of their hearts, and juggle their volunteer work in with their full time
jobs, family duties, recreation, etc., denying themselves things they want
to do, in order to do this stuff for the rest of us. If it takes them
awhile to do it, so be it. I, for one, am still grateful to them, and truth
will out, it makes no difference to me if I get the registration certificate
in December or April...it's just a piece of paper verifying a record of
something at Jacob Central! It doesn't seem to interfere with sales: they
always arrive in time for me to send in transfers at sale, which seem to
arrive in a timely fashion. I'm so grateful for the whole complex
registration/inspection process, which I think is very helpful in the
conservation/preservation effort, that I'm willing to put up with the
inconvenience of waiting. Patience is a virtue they say. I'm not very good
at it most of the time, but I do try! Working with volunteers all my life,
and having been a volunteer all of my life, I understand that in this "I
want it and I want it now" time in our country and culture, we need to be
kinder to ourselves and our volunteers! The world will not come to an end
if our registrations take 6 months to go through. It's not much worse than
the motor vehicle division of N.J., which I had to put up with for many
years, and they get PAID at a reasonable rate...talk about rude! Hope the
rest of your lambing season goes as planned with no other lambing problems
or lack of problems due to lack of lambs! Betty!
