I agree with Peggy.  

If I thought that the bands caused them significant pain I would ignore my 
personal preferences, but they go about their business as if nothing had 
happened, other than shaking their tails occasionally for a minute or two.  Those 
shakes look as if they could mean "that isn't real comfortable", or "something 
feels funny", or "something's stuck", but the shakes sure don't look like 
excruciating pain to me!
