<Third day. She's kinda alert in the morning, but still not eating or
getting up.
More water and Nutri-drench. I left for a few hours and came home to find
her in
the same spot, but she's chewing her cud - a good sign! Within an hour, she
got up,
started grazing and today (the fourth day) she is completely recovered.
Anyone ever seen anything like this before?
PS - yes, I know I should have already vaccinated (and I do vaccinate) but
I'm late
this year.

Hi Linda,
Do you think it could be a selenium or other vitamin deficiency due to
sudden growth? Maybe the nutra-drench had a vitamin/mineral that she was
needing. When we wean our Icelandics, we give 3 cc's of Bose. I was at
first nervous about such a large dose but it seems to have helped
tremendously with bloat and eating/grazing problems that weanlings can get
when they don't have mom's milk.
Jacobs are also fast growing like the Icelandics, so maybe there is
something to that theory. You might want to consider giving her a Bose
shot.
We have had tapes this year, too. The first time I have ever seen any
evidence of them, even though we probably have had them before, I just never
was unfortunate enough to actually see them when they passed.
