[Jacob-list] Graying & Ticking / Environment

I have no idea about the mechanism (but am interested in knowing more).  What I see  
here (I'm in North Georgia) are faces that darken on sheep that do not exhibit 
ticking.   Not all my sheep so it can't be a totally environmental factor as they 
all get the same amount of sun.  The faces aren't shielded by the wool.  
Now that I think about it, I haven't seen any of RubyBelle's lambs with the darkened 
faces.  She is unfreckled and hasn't produced a freckled lamb so far and she's 8 
years old.
