[Jacob-list] ear tags

Hi again, yes the mother was culled, she died. She was 13 years old and had
apparently jumped a fence. The tail was about
11-12 inches long, and yes I do agree with a four finger dock. The mother
lived six weeks until Missy was weaned (called her Missy for mistake),no
problem with keeping her clean the first six weeks. When she was weaned,
our Llama took her under his wing. He became very protective, because the 6
month old lambs I had were aggressive to her, and Iowa is cold in the
winter. He would let her curl up to him and he would do that snorting thing
they do when the other came near. He also made sure she ate. I had to
start feeding him from a coffee can in order to make him back off from the
feeder so I could keep better control of how much she ate. I believe that
the feed is why we got the mess.

I will say this though, when we sheared, she had the most beautiful wool, at
8 months old, it was 4 1/2 inches long, and baby soft.

Thanks though Betty, and you are right, any other set of circumstances and I
would have culled her.
