Trisha,
I have to ask - what is goat lard? Is it fat rendered from a butchered goat?
I can relate to ducks nesting in the sheep barn. Our geese do the same thing. They hiss and pinch the Jacobs when they get too close. They have laid lots of eggs and eventually abandoned them all. I am sure that I saw two yearling Jacob ewes eating discarded goose eggs! They were down on their front knees with their heads under a wooden ledge in the barn and came out licking their mouths. I observed something this year that I had not seen before - yearling ewes 'pronking' with the lambs. It was really entertaining.
Mary
