Yes, we've got digging sheep here too. The barn is fill of hay but outside
is more fun. Even my chickens won't go out in this much snow (we have a LOT,
it's been snowing for two whole weeks now) and the goats haven't ventured
out once. But the sheep think it's a playground, and the pigs too. Must
admit, I enjoy it myself:)

Hi listers-
Well, after staying warm extra long, this white world outside almost takes
me by surprise!  the sheep too by the looks of it.  I have to say though, I
get the feeling they like the snow and cold weather more than I do.  Our
pastures still have some longer grass in them left over from all the rain
this fall, and although the flock's initial reaction was to stay near the
barn, they were more than happy to follow me out thru the 10 inches to a
nearby pasture where they could paw around. From the tracks in the snow, a
deer had been there earlier in the morning.  Wish I would have taken
pictures.  They push their noses thru the snow, munching as much on snow as
on the grass. (they drink almost no water when there is fresh snow around)
When they look up, their faces and horns are completely covered in snow.  I
swear they were smiling.
Now if we can only figure out how to get our lane cleared!

ps. yes Sue, we are finally feeding some hay now.  On pasture into Dec is a
record though I think.
