[Jacob-list] breeding lambs

Robin,

We do breed some of our ewe lambs their first year.  Our criteria is: If they 
were born early and are large lambs; then we leave them with their mothers in 
one of the breeding pens.  They don't always breed, but we do find that if 
they do it does not seem to have any adverse effects on the mother or 
offspring's development.  They tend to still be as good of a mother as any 
first time lamber.
