[Jacob-list] polio in sheep

Hello Jacob folk,

I had a 6 month old ram lamb become suddenly wobbly, weak one morning.  By evening he was dead. I did have the vet come out even though he was clearly on the way out as I was stymied and wanted her diagnosis.  She diagnosed polio.  This was the first time I had come across this.  In sheep and cows it is a metabolic defeciency and is not contagious.

I was wondering if any of you have any knowledge of this.  I'm interested in knowing if this is an inherited trait.
