[Jacob-list] VIRUS answers

I've figured out what's going on with the virus issue discussed earlier this
week. Several subscribers have been sending email that contains a new type
of virus. This one only infects certain software packages, so it's received
less media attention than others. The scarey thing, though is that it's
embedded in the message rather than as an attachment. I would strongly
encourage everybody using Internet Explorer 5 and/or Outlook to read up on
this and install the necessary patches to prevent its spread.

Please take the time to read through the article at
http://www.zdnet.com/zdhelp/stories/main/0,5594,2390955,00.html . The virus
that I'm seeing today seems to be a mutation of the Bubbleboy Virus
discussed in this article, and I think this one is more harmful. From the
little bit of programming that I understand, I think this one will cause
Windows to close and delete some files.

Anyhow, the mystery is solved. I just hope those who have the virus will
take care of it before it spreads further.
