Fred here.

Bob Hesselgesser is an advertising marketer for the Record Stockman who lives
in Phoenix. The Record Stockman is headquartered in Wheat Ridge, CO. Ad
rates are expensive for a "newspaper". Newspapers have a short shelf life
vs. magazines.

The RS is a weekly newspaper, about 16-20 pages, for the livestock market;
does features on breeds and such, primarily angled to the few independent
large livestock raisers. The disappearing independents has forced them to
move to whats left of the small farm market and this isn't much.

Some who get the RS will recall the "breed" feature section, a page at most
with a picture or two. Last year the Jacob article didn't have room for a
picture! The Jacob article describes the sheep, its history and refers to
the JSC, JSBA and ALBC. It promotes conserving a rare breed by the small
acreage holder; not exactly "on message" for a paper that is more
commercially oriented. However, past issues have had articles on Icelandics,
Black Welsh, etc. that tell about the breed, skip the "commercialization" and
"market" issues and contain breeder ads.

It isn't a scam. You determine if you want to advertise. Fred Horak
