Here are my machine washing instructions:

Fill unloaded washer with hot water to high level. Be sure to stop washing
machine before adding fleece so it won't agitate and felt the fleece. You
can really use hotter water than you think - it helps break up the grease
and doesn t felt most wools as long as they are not to cold when you put
them in - room temperature is okay.

Presoak Fleece: Add fleece - distribute around washer, push down so it
becomes covered with water. Don't stir around, just push it down to soak.
Close lid; let fleece soak several hours or overnight (it won t hurt to let
the water cool down).

Drain Washer: Set washer to "Spin Only" - (don't allow any agitation) to
extract all water. It helps your drains if you cover the drain hose from the
washer with an old nylon stocking to filter the junk from the wash water.

Wash with soap: leave fleece in the washer - pull fleece to front of washer
bin, away from the area where the water filling in will directly hit the
fleece and cover the fleece with a towel. Fill the washer with warm water -
again DON'T AGITATE! Add several squirts of Dawn dishwashing detergent or 2
handfuls of laundry detergent stir around gently until fully mixed with
water. After washer is full, remove towel and evenly distribute fleece. Let
soak for an hour or more; then spin again to extract water.

Rinse: use the same technique as for washing the fleece, but do not put any
soap in the wash bin. Repeat as many times as you wish - at least twice. Be
sure to cover the fleece each time with a towel. After the first rinse, you
don t have to let it soak for an hour - just long enough for the fleece to
absorb the water and help get the crud out.

After the final spin extraction, spread the fleece outside in the sun on an
old screen or slatted board or bread rack tray. If you haven't pulled the
fleece apart very much, it should withstand a fair amount of wind.

Is there a web site with information on how to clean wool and prepare it
for spinning?
Or possibly -- is there someone on this list with simple instructions on
how to do this?

Thanks in advance!
