His father-in-law, a builder (like Trump) tried to condemn a whole swath 
of a Hispanic neighborhood for a big real-estate project and got Beto to 
promote the scheme with the El Paso zoning board. A great uproar from 
Hispanics in that neighborhood erupted and the project was dropped. Yet 
when asked if they know that story many El Paso Hispanics say yes but 
they are still loyal to him. Its like down in the Valley in years of 
yore when the Hispanic locals voted the way the patron told them to.

The only other dirty laundry on him that I know about is that he left 
the scene of an accident apparently driving drunk but wiggled his way 
out of it with a slap on the wrist. For the rest he is apparently 
squeaky clean except for being in favor of open borders, against border 
enforcement, for dismantling ICE, for impeaching Trump for purely 
political motives. (I haven't checked out his website which should 
contain a position paper).

Odd also that he couldn't beat Cruz the most hated politician in 
Washington and all around oleaginous creep.
