I met two separate people last night who are from Galveston, not refugees but who were visiting family in Austin and/or who live here and own houses there, both their houses are flooded. One said that this is the second time for her and that the flooding comes after the hurricane passes with a kind of backwash coming in behind the raised front of the island that was changed after the major hurricane of 1908 that devastated Galveston and wiped out Indianola.
