Zoot is at 509 Hearn St., offa Lake Austin Boulevard, has very fine food
that i generally can't afford, but is in the house where Directions Co. was
when i first met Charlie Loving and where i worked with John Harms, Joe
Gracey and Mike Osborne and where I lived in the attic.
San Jose is all the rage on South Congress but i find the decor way to
reminiscent of public schools in the 1960's and like most things in the SOCO
area way to hoyty toyty for me. I highly recommend Southside Flying Pizza a
little farther south in the LOCO district(Lower Congress)2206 in fact, great
hand-made pies, sandwiches and absolutely GREAT Soups...plus i have some art
up on the walls there.
Tears of Joy is a kinda touristy hot sauce shop on East 6th, its fine as it
goes, but i preferr the selection at Sambets Cajun Market up on Spicewood
Springs and 183...course its problt a toll to get there these days.
sayonarry, y'all
