As explained by the deputy who came: It is not illegal to fire off
road, but under no condition is it legal to fire onto the road—even in
self-defense. While I think the horse-killer deserved to die, I would
rather have disabled the car, if just to ask why? does this sick jerk
do this. Besides, provided he ran without the gun, I would have
thoroughly enjoyed watching my son run him down and beat the snot outta
him. mm
