[AGL] here comes Rome

Frances,

We was me and my roommate.

I got an Early Music in Austin email about it. Liturgically it was a
concert, not a service. What the concert solely consisting of the singing of
a Requiem Mass really is in the eyes of J.C. is known only to Him. As
Michele says, some truths are on the other side of the veil.

Architecturally, inside, the church, technically a cathedral, is a real
loser. Nice outside. Vulgar imitation of English perpendicular with gaudy
red marble columns. Fake di Robbia style medallions along the side walls.
Ghastly wallpaper behind the altar. Rich folks provincial bad taste circa
1880s I guess.

In Paris, church concerts are in HUGE 900 year old
neighborhood churches. Hearing plainsong masses in gothic space blows the
mind.

Mike
