Last night I went to Nobelity, a documentary film by Turk Pipkin, a man of many talents, the latest of which is film making. The film was premiered at SXSW and got well deserved enthusiastic reviews. He interviewed a half dozen or so Nobel peace prize winners, some of whom have died since the interview. It was a most uplifting experience even if the subject was ominously a discussion of the biggest problems facing the world today. The upshot was surprisingly optimistic. It was a rare exposure to the finest minds of our times, and something I would like to see again.
If I had more gelt I woulda bought a collector's DVD they were selling after the showing--instead I just bought a t-shirt to wear for my workouts at the "Y."
There is a special screening at the Wild Basin by reservation for $25 on Friday, April 21, with the film maker and again Sunday April 23rd. There is also a showing at the Unitarian church on Grover this weekend. It is worth the effort to get to see it.
