Mike,
Other than making a very good case for hanging Wolfie, Perle, et al for
treason the article doesn't reveal all that much that wasn't known to many
of us already--with one exception, the China connection. Our most carefully
guarded techno secrets are being passed to China via Israel, thanks to the
Neo cabal. I don't understand how this (like Iran Contra) profits Israel,
maybe they do it for money, maybe it's part of a secret tri-lateral trade
pact with the US, a convenient way to pass the buck. How does this profit
the US? I can tell you that my first loyalty is to the US and I truly
believe that our current Israel policy is dragging us down, it's an
albatross around our necks.
I understand your loyalty to Israel given your heritage. You are much better
informed about goings-on there than I. If I were in your shoes I would
likely behave similarly. But the Israel that you defend is on the ropes, not
because of outward threats so much as internal strife. A secular revolution
in Iran would be very timely, but would not solve the Palestinian question.
A US led invasion of Iran would be catastrophic.
Yesterday I heard a good story on NPR, an interview with a Jewish woman who
had moved from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, the contrasts between the two cities
and their respective natives, an extremely wide gap. We both know that
Israel is in deep trouble domestically because of the burgeoning Orthodox
and Arab populations. In another 20 years (or less) the old Israel of the
50's and 60's will be history unless some unforeseen events take place.
Democracy is a strange animal, it never rests and the changes it makes
possible are often maddening to the true believers.
I just returned from a long walk through the jungle to check out some plants
I planted upstream in the spring, very tiring. First I had to wade through
about 50' of bog created by a flooding irrigation ditch. My way was blocked
by dense plant life, often over my head and so thick I had to build up
momentum and crash through it blindly to avoid getting stuck. I visualized
the obstruction as Karl Rove and refused to let it stop me although I was
tempted to turn back several times. The plants? Only one survived but it is
a nice one, worth the trip.
Do you listen to Glenn Gould? Goldberg Variations? My current musical
obsession...magnificent!
