Saw it first in movie house, have rented it for 2 more viewings.

For a while I was hoping that it could be my generic movie
my beau ideal my Platonic ideal of a movie like Ice Station 
Zebra (black and white, 1968) was for Howard Hughes which 
he watched faithfull unto death every afternoon holed up 
in his hotel penthouse in Mexico.

unfortunately there are onl1y so many times one can see 
Ellen Barkin get nekkid, Pacino & cop partner fight at
the cop banquet, Barkin as the possible perp, the 
tradecraft of a cop sting operation where the offer of 
free tickets to the Knicks rounds up ever so many bad 
guys, Pacino's humanity in turning away a late black 
arrivee with his young son from claiming his tickets, 
i.e. getting busted, cop Goodman on the case cheating 
on his wife, etc, etc. 

alas, it does get a bit hokey at the end where Pacino 
licks his booze problem and gets back with Barkin who is 
selling ladies shoes in an upscale store on Fifth Ave.
