To which some would reply "of course" my ass! Some would insist that the
rumored shotgun wedding of Wiley and the "black ewe," said to be arranged by
the governor and his ranger bodyguard was just that - a rumor! Some
descendants of the Wilde-West clan are much more inclined to acknowlege
Cornel and his booklearnin' branch than those shiftless hide inspectin',
armadillo poachin' varmints that took the governor's "letter of safe
passage" (meant to get them out of Texas) as a license to run roughshod over
their neighbors for the last fifty years. Just look how some of them wound
up in Maine, came back to Texas, and then started carpetbaggin' nationwide.
Some would insist that the Wilde-West branch of the family represents the
very best tradition of Texas respect for military valor and education and,
yes, multi-culturalism and diversity. The so-called Hogg-Wilde clan can
rightfully trace the beginning of its demise from the time Big John Connolly
switched from the Democratic to the Republican party just in time for the
Watergate Scandal. It's gone on too damn long! I just pray that the
"situation" in which we find ourselves now may once and for all drive a
wooden stake thru the black heart, and drive the final nail in the coffin,
of that hide inspectin', vote grabbin', taxin' without representin' branch
of the family.
