Scoundrels, manipulators, and religious propaganda

Bill-- Education is the tool that gives you the real ex-ray specs. Many 
teachers today are using the "war fever" as an opportunity to teach 
propaganda analysis-- Take a look at recent issues of US news magazines and 
check out the headlines to see propaganda in action, bending our minds, 
corrupting our youth, getting them ready to die for a noble George Bush 
anti-terrorist cause. TV coverage is so vile I've turned mine off entirely 
(except for a few shows about cutting up corpses to discover the true cause 
of death--those seem to be popular right now, and you can learn a lot about 
analytical thinking from them).
On the other hand, this is an especially good time to paint, to draw,  to  
read and write poetry, to abstain from "mass" media altogether. It's good to 
be on this list, even though it's been infiltrated by zealots and fanatics! 
Or maybe that's what makes it interesting! As for Bob, give that guy a 
double dose of anti-dogma--he's too far down in the trenches for me.
