rc.42 an rabins: filtering won't work

Oh, a bug I'm sure.   What platform are you running on?
On my intel fedora and my mac ox x (g5), i'm getting good
behavior.  When did you pick up your copy of rc.42?  I've
put up a minor mod'd rc.42, it may help!!!!
