Hey Andrew,
Good to hear its a config change rather than a bug!!
The thought is that we need to support having an independant argus per interface, so we need the name in the pid file, however, the index is there to allow 'up to' numbers of probes per interface, which maybe overkill.
Any thoughts on the strategy are most welcome!!!!!!

Ah, there was ARGUS_SET_PID=no

It's arbitrary insofar as it's going to vary depending on the name of the
interface Argus is started on. /var/run/argus.eth0.0.pid is the name of the
file. I suppose I can do something creative with this. I'll get back to you
if problems persist.
