ra refuses to die

Hi Folks,
	 I am running my watcher script on an obsd system it runs fine until
midnight when it attempts to close the pipe to ra.  At this point it
hangs. If I try and kill the ra process from the command line with a
standard kill command it refuses to die, it does however die with kill -9.

I think this behaviour has been present since I 'upgraded' ;) this box
to 206.fixes.

How should I kill ra processes?
