Hey Scott,
   I just checked out both the .devel and .debug support
in the argus-clients distribution.  The .devel configure
is cool but the .debug support is not there.  I've added
it to the next release, which should be out at the end
of this week.

   Is this what you experienced?   

   Here's the patch for ./configure
