argus-2.0.0p

Hey Neil,
No misunderstanding. There is only a modicum difference between
being successful and not in software writing. (Sometimes I think
it should be called software righting).

I have the ArgusNtoH, and HtoN problems for raxml on bigendian
machines resolved and that is in the stuff that I put up just now.

Ok, so we wish 1.8 backward compatibility, so the question is
what are we doing wrong. Would you mind sharing your particular
files that don't work? My stuff here is working fine. It may
be a record I don't normally get, or an endian problem that I
don't run into.

Thanks,

Carter

Hello Carter

Sorry - I have been totally overloaded elsewhere for the past couple of
weeks and just had a look at argus-2.0.0o

There is a build problem on Solaris 2.6

gcc -g -O -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -Wstrict-prototypes -o
../bin/raxml raxml.o ../lib/argus_parse.a ../lib/argus_common.a
-lsocket -lnsl -lm
Undefined first referenced
 symbol in file
ArgusNtoH raxml.o
ArgusHtoN raxml.o

a make -k keeps going though.

maybe I am behind the list but I thought the new version of ra, etc can
read v1.8 Argus data files

./bin/ra -nr /disk3/mail/Belgium/eng.data
ra: not Argus-2.0 data stream.

trying a v1.8 argus server

ra: connected
06 Sep 00 16:45:34 man Version1.8 ProbeId 0
               STA
Bus error (core dumped)

(less of a problem)

Not such a big deal - I wouldn't really expect to beable to mix v1 and
v2 formats but maybe I have misunderstood.

Cheers
Neil
