Dan Frakes, Macworld

Fantastical doesn’t include every feature of every other calendaring add-on, but it’s a great package that handles—with an attractive interface and some impressive options—most of the things you use your “big” calendar program to do. And it makes it much easier and more convenient to quickly create new events.

Though Apple originally filed for ownership of the "Thunderbolt" trademark associated with its new high-speed data port, the rights will be transferred to Intel, the company with which it cooperatively developed the new standard.

J.H. Elliott, New York Review Of Books

Over the past few decades all three pillars supporting the structure of colonial history have come to look increasingly insecure, partly as a consequence of changes in the discipline of history, but also because of the enormous political, social, and cultural changes that have transformed the world itself.

**** The Last Level Crossing In Singapore <http://thelongnwindingroad.wordpress.com/2011/05/19/the-last-level-crossing-in-singapore/>
The Long And Winding Road

Minutes before arriving at Woodlands on the 30th of June, the last of the Malayan Railway trains to cut across our island would have passed what would be the last operational level crossing in Singapore. It is probably appropriate that the crossing, one of two gated crossings left (the other being at Gombak Drive), is the last that will see a train pass through, being close to the terminal point of the original Singapore-Kranji Railway which commenced operations in 1903.

**** Radical Change Or Forced Circumstance? <http://yoursdp.org/index.php/news/singapore/4837-radical-change-or-forced-circumstance>
Singapore Democratic Party

Elections are based on informed choices, or at least they should. Given certain information, voters may or may not choose to vote for a particular candidate or party. This was not the case for Singaporeans going to the polls on 7 May. Choosing not to tell voters the intention of the three ministers led voters to think that they would be voting for the trio to continue in their posts.

This is not the way a government should operate. The people of Singapore deserve better, they deserve transparency from this government. Keeping secret till after the elections the intention of ministers wishing to step down is not what the people deserve.

周殊钦, 联合早报

老牌反对党工人党这次大选在东部的选区表现出色,成立近四年的革新党则“向西看”,准备将主力移向西部,甚至打算把目前设在牛车水的党总部迁至金文泰。

Chua Chin Leng, My Singapore News

The brand has lost its glamour and devotees. And with the pressure for more disclosure on how much the ministers are really getting mounts, the lack of transparency, to come clean, will bear heavily on the little trust that is left on the party.

**** Tip For The PAP: Build A Church <http://newnation.sg/2011/05/tip-for-the-pap-build-a-church/>
Terence Lee, New Nation

The PAP needs to carry a new message; a new vision. And they need to execute it. It needs to bring tears to my eyes, like George Yeo almost did.

**** The Reform Party Responds To PM Lee’s Cabinet Reshuffle <http://thereformparty.net/about/press-releases/the-reform-party-responds-to-pm-lee’s-cabinet-reshuffle/>
The Reform Party

While it is good that the PM has owned up to the urgency of the need for change, it is clear that the PAP is at a loss where to go from here. The problem is not with the personnel at the head of each Ministry or department but with the policies themselves. This cabinet reshuffling of the same old figures is not rejuvenation and the same old line up wearing different numbered jerseys can only lead to stagnation.

**** Sum Of PAP's New Cabinet <http://www.raviphilemon.net/2011/05/sum-of-paps-new-cabinet.html>
Ravi Philemon

I suspect that the Prime Minister's reluctance to break away from the old, will be the one main factor which will gnaw away the trust the people of Singapore still have in the PAP.

**** PUB Warning On Water Tank Security <http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_670672.html>
Kimberly Spykerman, Straits Times

In a statement on Thursday evening, PUB said it takes a 'serious view' of the security of water storage tanks, and has in the past fined town councils, Management Committee Strata Titles (MCSTs), and building owners for offences such as leaving doors to tanks and covers unlocked.

PUB declined to comment on whether Sembawang Town Council would be censured in the light of Monday's incident, citing ongoing police investigations.
