**** Apple The Most Valuable Company In The World? Bet On It. <http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2010/09/12/apple-the-most-valuable-company-in-the-world-bet-o.aspx>
Eric Bleeker, Motley Fool

Apple will become the most valuable company in the world. Bet on it. In fact, go out and sell all your personal belongings, liquidate your 401(k), and buy Apple stock with every last dollar you own.

OK … on second thought, I wouldn't advise that -- it's a bit rash. But there are ample reasons to believe that the company's rise is just starting and that Apple will continue blowing past expectations.

**** Sentosa Retailers Located Outside RWS Unaffected By Termination Of Free Bus Rides <http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1080754/1/.html>
Seet Sok Hwee & Evelyn Choo, Channel NewsAsia

It seems that the recent termination of free bus rides to Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) has not affected retailers located outside the integrated resort.

**** Wayang Between Sheng Siong And HDB Continues! <http://www.sgpolitics.net/?p=4289>

HDB and Sheng Siong should stop the wayang now and return us the wet markets which have until now served the interests of heartlanders and provided a valuable means of livelihood for stall owners.

**** Some Looking Across The Causeway To Invest In Property <http://www.todayonline.com/Singapore/EDC100913-0000081/Some-looking-across-the-Causeway-to-invest-in-property>

**** Curb Mushrooming Toto Booths <http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/OnlineStory/STIStory_577760.html>
Lee Seck Kay, Straits Times

The authorities' well-meaning stand, however, does not see the wood for the trees. There is more than enough encouragement to gamble in the heartland itself, if only one cares to look. Problem gambling probably has its roots there, and not in the integrated resorts.

**** Did Authorities Not Know About Shuttles? <http://www.todayonline.com/Voices/EDC100913-0000044/Did-authorities-not-know-about-shuttles?>
M Lukshumayeh, Chua Hin Bee, William Tay, Peter Lim, Today

Free bus services between RWS and HDB heartland areas began operation a few months ago. However, it is astonishing to learn that instead of stepping in from day one, the authority only acted recently after receiving complaints from the public.

The shuttle bus services had been in operation for a while and surely, relevant approvals must have been sought from government agencies by the transport operators and approvals duly given - but perhaps not with the involvement of the Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA).

Idiots' Collective

This seems to be a running theme in politics, whether in a dictatorship or democracy. Political leaders are experts at convincing themselves that they're doing the right thing for society, either because they really believe it or because they believe that doing the wrong thing is necessary in order to be able to do the right thing later.

**** Minimum Wage - How Long Must We Wait? <http://singaporemind.blogspot.com/2010/09/minimum-wage-how-long-must-we-wait.html>
Diary of A Singaporean Mind

Lim Swee Say, as labor union chief, tells workers to be cheaper, better and faster. Why doesn't he tell landland lords to lower their rents to make Singapore more competitive? Why doesn't he tell Singapore Power to lower its tariffs which are the 2nd highest in the world so that businesses can pay workers more? Making labor cheap and all else expensive works against ordinary Singaporeans especially those in the bottom 20%. The PAP govt says that businesses will flee if a minimum wage is set....we should ask ourselves what good is achieved if we retain a business dependent on cheap labor in Singapore....let it go and make space for businesses that can pay workers more.
