**** How To Improve Command + Tab On Your Mac <http://mac360.com/index.php/mac360/comments/how-to-improve-command-tab-on-your-mac/>
Ron McElfresh, Mac 360

Switché is a simple, elegant Mac app that only works on Macs running Snow Leopard but you’ll be impressed with what Command+Tab can really do. It’s an old dog that learns new tricks.

**** Review: Firefox Home For iPhone <http://rss.macworld.com/click.phdo?i=54ac02700f847855219ebd919d9f6c23>
John Fuller, Macworld

The marquee feature of Firefox Home is the ability to access tabs opened on a desktop computer from an iOS device. The app ties in to Mozilla’s Firefox Sync add-on, which promises to automatically sync open tabs, browsing history, and bookmarks from all computers registered under the same account. It’s important to note, however, that the app itself does not update automatically, but the desktop browser sends data almost instantaneously. Setting up Firefox Home is a bit of a workaround, but Mozilla does an excellent job of making it as far from cumbersome as possible.

**** Managing And Securing IOS 4 Devices At Work <http://rss.macworld.com/click.phdo?i=fcf4ea5101a15d64e32ef2b2799d3e53>
Ryan Faas, Computerworld

A lot has changed for the iPhone, its operating system and the smartphone industry as a whole in three years. For people who want to use the iPhone at work and the IT departments that support them, the changes have been good. In fact, some of the major updates in each new iteration of the iPhone operating system (now called iOS) were the ones that made it easier to manage and secure Apple’s mobile platform.

**** Mac Gems: DrawBerry Is A Great Vector-drawing Program <http://rss.macworld.com/click.phdo?i=ed98b48f73f15f1b980b6f05efa44ed5>
John Brandon, Macworld

It’s rare when a free app (one with no strings attached) provides the features you need to get the job done. Although DrawBerry is not exactly a substitute for Adobe Illustrator, it works well in a pinch for creating a basic vector drawing image, such as a brochure or a garage sale sign.

**** Elements, A Dropbox-powered Text Editor, Released <http://rss.macworld.com/click.phdo?i=f1ce3dfe603f202bed49180fd1f2316b>
David Chartier, Macworld

Elements is quite simple, really. It lets you create and edit text files that are automatically saved to your Dropbox account. While working on a file, Elements automatically saves your work every 60 seconds. If you don’t have a Wi-Fi or 3G connection, Elements lets you work offline and will upload all your changes once you get connected.

Rick Aristotle Munarriz, Motley Fool

It's true that Apple hasn't had much of an acquisitive appetite in the past. It's also true that Apple is unlikely to come into a greenback-slurping funk in the near term. However, you never know when an arms race is going to kick off.

**** Apple Really Is Becoming Microsoft... <http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/apple-really-is-becoming-microsoft/38162>
David Chernicoff, ZDNet

Had I not proposed my solution this would have been an ongoing problem that would have simply led to a very frustrated customer. And the irony of the proposed solution being a Windows-esque wipe and reinstall would have gone unnoticed.

**** Telling Tails <http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2009/08/telling-tails/7533/>
Tim O'Brien, The Atlantic

The problem with unsuccessful stories is usually simple: they are boring, a consequence of the failure of imagination. To vividly imagine and to vividly render extraordinary human events, or sequences of events, is the hard-lifting, heavy-duty, day-by-day, unending labor of a fiction writer.

**** For Some Foods, You Just Had To Be There <http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/18/dining/18souvenir.html?_r=1&partner=rss&emc=rss>

Although Internet buying makes sense — why haul a treat through Customs if a computer click brings the same result? — plenty of purists favor lugging over logic. For them, a treat bought at its source and carried home by their own (or a loved one’s) hands is somehow more genuine, more delicious, more earned, than one secured in an easy, remote transaction on the Web.

"CPIB is unable to comment on the case against Paul Shin Devine and Andrew Ang as it is currently handled by the U.S. authorities," CPIB spokeswoman Tan Chai Ying wrote in an e-mail response to questions about whether the Singaporean government is also investigating the alleged kickback scheme.

He was once considered the enfant terrible of Singapore’s nascent alternative art scene for his headline-grabbing art performances, including one in which he dressed up in a suit made of fake dollar bills and another involving his own urine.

But nearly 20 years later, Vincent Leow is part of the art scene establishment. He was selected to represent Singapore at the 2007 Venice Biennale and his work is currently the subject of a mid-career review at 8Q sam, the contemporary art arm of the Singapore Art Museum, albeit minus the controversial early performances.

I thought it would be fun to share some of my photos taken of the folks who lined the streets of Ang Mo Kio, as the Olympic Torch made its way through Ang Mo Kio. These are faces of real people, many of whom just happened to be there when our noisy bus and convoy went by. I loved the ready smiles and waves we got from them.

**** An Open Letter To Dr Vivian Balakrishnan <http://theonlinecitizen.com/2010/08/an-open-letter-to-dr-vivian-balakrishnan/>
Choo Zheng Xi, Andrew Loh, The Online Citizen

The unfortunate implication of your statement is that the negativity surrounding the YOG so far has been directed at volunteers and athletes.

Let’s be clear: not a single article we’ve read online so far that has been critical of the YOG has dishonored the work of genuine volunteers or even those who have been “volunteered”. Neither has it been directed against our athletes, of whom every Singaporean hopes will do us proud. In fact, all criticism has been directed at the shoddy work of the main organizing committee, which seem to think it can treat the youths of Singapore like conscripts and organize a world-class event with minimal preparation. This is what Singaporeans are outraged about.
