**** Apple Seeks TV Price Cut <http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117971505.html?categoryid=14&cs=1>
by Josef Adalian, Variety
Apple is mulling a plan to cut the price of TV show downloads in half — an idea that's not going over too well in Hollywood.
According to three people familiar with the proposal, Apple has told networks and studios that it would like to slash the cost of most TV episodes sold via iTunes from the current $1.99 to just 99 cents — te same as what Apple charges for most music singles.

Like the iPhone, the Touch does indeed run OS X, and has the same sort of hardware limitations as its rich uncle. The Nano works just fine with external microphones and you can click a checkbox in iTunes and use it as a standad USB storage device; no such joy with the Touch.

Here is something very important to remember about Steve Jobs (and probably the only part of this column that will bother him in the least): most of his business moves are still in reaction to having been fired by Apple back in 1985.

**** Third-Party Opportunities For The iPod Touch
by Heng-Cheong Leong, MyAppleMenu
1. Add EVDO/EDGE/3G Data, so that the internet is always-on.
2. Microphone, so that Skype works.
3. Camera.
Essentially, there are opportunites for third parties to make the iPod touch to be a "real" iPhone without the AT&T phone part. The barrier of entry: Apple, and its tight control over the dock connector SDK.

10 years after his death at the age of 56, Yau continues to be as obscure as he was in life. But with the issues of conservation and cultural identity at the forefront of social debate in Hong Kong, his body of work — spanning almost 40 years and recording the city's passage from hard-bitten entrepot to looming metropolis — cries out for recognition as the extraordinary social and artistic document that it is.

**** Canned Events Not Due To WP Ban: Young PAP <http://www.straitstimes.com/Latest%2BNews/Singapore/STIStory_155683.html>
by Straits Times
Sembawang GRC MP Lim Wee Kiak said tht while it is true that the YP had put up on its calendar a night cycling event on July 28, it was canned because of poor response from residents. Also, it was not actually organised by the YP.
/Does that mean that non-Worker's Party members can organise a cycling event for Worker's Party anniversary, and that would be fine? Don't even need a police permit?/
/Sounds to me a poorly made-up after-the-event excuse./

**** DId Young PAP Applied For Police Permit For Its Cycling Event?
by Heng-Cheong Leong, MyAppleMenu
The latest saga in Singapore's politics is the embarrasing discovery of the Young PAP's cycling event — supposedly already conducted.
The question we have to ask is: did YPAP even applied for a police permit for such outdoor mass assembly event, or were they given a free pass? It will be embarassing for PAP not to know what its youth wing is up to, but it will be downright horrible if it is the Singapore police who is practicing double standards.
