Chris,

First off all start with replacing all fuses for new. It costs only a few
box and it saves a lot off trouble.
Old fuses looks good, they are not burned but corroded at the contact points
and then make bad contact.
It is a possibility of your complaints.
Dont forget the fuses in the trunk.

I did this 6 years ago because i had same kind off problems and after that
no electrical faillures were happening.

I will send you electrical drawings.

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the suggestion but at the moment the battery is fully charged.
What I need is some connecting point between the systems giving trouble. It
is probably something as simple as a bad earth but locating it is the
problem. I don't even have access to a wiring diagram for the car.
Thanks Chris.

I have a 1999 500 sl which I love, I have also owned a 90 and 91 500 sl. The
90 and 91 seemed to have had much more solid cornering and steering ability
than the 99. I have put new shocks and tires on the 99 and it does drive
better than before, however, not as well as my 90 or 91. Any thoughts as to
why?

Is is possible that you don't drive it very much and the battery is low? I
have had a similar experience (I drive 2,800 miles a year) after a long
layoff.

Hi,

My 1990 500SL has been performing well al summer but on a recent rare sunny
day

I went to get it out of the garage and was faced with a number of seemingly

unconnected electrical faults. I don't believe they could be unconnected so
can

any one help ?

I switched on the ignition and a quiet beeping alarm started. I have never
heard

this before so I continued and started the engine and the alarm stopped. I
then

found that the direction indicators would not work although the emergency

flashers worked fine. Further testing of systems revealed that the soft top
,

the roll bar and the electric windows had also stopped working although the

windows did go up and down if the door was open (interior lights on). I have

checked the fuses with little hope that this could be the cause as the
systems

which are not working don't share one fuse.

I am at a bit of a loss to know where to try next so any advice would be

gratefully received.

Thanks, Chris Wadlow.
