[R129 SL] soft top issue & Flyinf Dutchman...

First off, sounds like Flying Dutchman got the better part of the deal in getting to keep the car. 
Any partner that makes you choose between a car and themselves obviously is looking for a reason to hit the road anyway.  Just my 2 cents here in West Hills, CA...

The soft top on my lovely 91 500SL seems to go up, half-way, then stops.  I was able to manually close it, but do miss the open-top driving.  Any suggestions?

  The soft top on my 2000 SL500 squeals when being raised but it is quiet when being dropped. About half way up it jerks and squeals on the passenger side. I bought some while grease, can anyone suggest lubrication points?
