[R129 SL] Top and Rollbar warning lights

My R129 has only one battery (the one in the trunk). But my R230 does indeed have two: The trunk battery powers only the "convenience functions" while the main battery is now in front.

As far as I'm concerned this seems like a case of technology looking for a problem to solve... I guess the idea is to retain starting power even if always-on accessories drain the secondary battery. But it's just a another expensive special battery to maintain, and despite a recent replacement, I am often greeted with "convenience functions temporarily disabled" if the car hasn't been started for a day or two. No radio, seats, etc until you drive enough to bring up the charge. Seems like that secondary battery doesn't have a whole lot of capacity?

Wow. I didn't know there was a second battery. My top seems slower lately. Where exactly may I find this battery? 1990 R129.

Thanks!

Wow. I didn't know there was a second battery either. I think there is only one battery in the R129. The main battery is beneath the sidewall in the trunk. I forget whether its the right or left side (I think passenger side).

If you live in the USA, the best way to replace the battery is to call MBUSA Road service and they will sell you a new battery, AND they will install it and reset all the computers and radios for FREE. And they come to you!
