[R129 SL] Lazy Seat Belt Retractor

The seat belt retractor on the driver's seat of my '91 500SL has gotten  
"tired".  It is very slow to pull the belt back in when I exit the  car.  I 
sometimes have to feed the belt into the slot in order to get it to  retract.  I 
suppose the mechanism needs to be cleaned and lubed, but don't  know how to 
remove the cover on the backrest to get at it.  Help!
