[R129 SL] SL-500 Air conditioning

I filled up my AC with freon refrigerant and the dealer told me that the
heat sensor for the two big air fans was defective.
So when I was waiting for the traffic light the cooling from the
refrigerant was insufficient and then the pressure protective valve should
blow the refrigerant out of the system. After replacing the sensor they
filled up the system for the second time together with a colored fluid.
I paid for the second time and after two months it sopped working again.
After checking hey told me that the colored fluid had leaking out of the
indoor unit.
To repair cost about 1300 euros. Say 1600 $.
I am now thinking what to do, do it myself with 15 ours labor and buying a
used unit, or open the soft top.

Greetings

Jan.

Oh My Gosh you just named every problem I am experiancing with my 91
SL500....I thought that I just had a Lemon... I spent 3000.00 dollars to the
Benz dealer for Air Conditioning repair and was sent off to the Middle east.
When I returned 18 months later the Air wasn't working and Mercedes Benez
wouldn't honor the previous work...I am so sad and frustrated. It blows
cool air for a while then hot....My mechanic can not find a leak in the
system...Any one has any suggestions???
