You could do it over again...offer your set for sale and see if
you can get enough to justify replacement.

I'd like to go from 16s to 17s rather than 18s, but I haven't
seen any 17s available...

I've got orig 16" chrome wheels on my '90 500 SL.  Maybe several
of us can arrange a big swap around.
