[R129 SL] Fading/ faltering A/C display on 98 SL500

Peter -

This happened to me in my 2000 SL500. The LCD readout would fade, especially
in the cold. When I pressed my finger against it it would come back. Since
the car was still under warranty the dealer just replaced the LCD panel.
