[R129 SL] SL top problems

I have a 90 300sl and would love to know how to read the codes with a paperclip.

  Regarding choice of years/models, the '92-'95 cars have wiring harness problems.  The earlier cars are an outstanding value, but if this is not so important, by all means get a '99 or later...The M113 may be technically less sophisticated than the M119 it replaced, but it delivers the performance.
