Well, if I am putting the top down, it only goes all the way to the point 
where the front latches (on top of the windshield) are about to release.  It 
takes several times for it to completely release.  When putting the top up, 
it stops when it is pointing straight up.  Same thing, after a couple of 
tries it works..  I've stopped using it topless for now (although the 
weather is just perfect now is L.A. for it!).

Bob Terry just sent me some very good information that I am going to check 
on later today.  Any other bits of advice would be welcome!
