[R129 SL] Heater control panel illumination

Hi Geoff,
 
To replace my bulb I removed the stereo and pushed it out from the rear,

Hi Everyone

The backlighting to the heater control panel on my 1990 300SL 24v has failed
on the left hand side . Does anyone know how to remove the panel to get to
the lightbulbs behind it ? I can remove the two control knobs ...fan speed &
air direction....  but can't see a logical way forward.  As this is in
England there is no air-con !
