They cut out the old windows, and sew in new ones. I I actually paid $495, not $400 as previously stated. But, they look great. They did all the work, pulling the existing top off and re-installing it when done. Took one day as well! I can get the name & number for any open who is interested. > >Cheers, > >Greg > ----- Original Message ----- > From: George Simpson > To: r129list@mbcoupes.com > Sent: Monday, September 20, 2004 4:59 AM > Subject: [SPAM] RE: [SPAM] [R129 SL] Convertible top rear window material > > > Greg - did you have it done locally i.e. new plastic windows 'welded' in, or did you buy a new rear part of the hood from either M-B or another supplier? > > > > George > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: r129list-admin@mbcoupes.com [mailto:r129list-admin@mbcoupes.com] On Behalf Of gregoiro@weststargroup.net > Sent: Monday, September 20, 2004 4:18 AM > To: r129list@mbcoupes.com > Subject: Re: [SPAM] [R129 SL] Convertable top rear window material > > > > I just had the windows in my convertible top replaced, andit makes a world of difference in the appearance of the car. It cost me abotu $400.00 to have them re-done - that's including re-installing the tp as well. > > > > Cheers, > > > > Greg > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: George Jenner > > To: R129 List > > Sent: Sunday, September 19, 2004 7:20 AM > > Subject: [SPAM] [R129 SL] Convertable top rear window material > > > > My SL500 soft top rear window got so discolored and bad looking I finally carefully removed it and both rear side windows entirely. Now I am on the hunt for the original, or an improved material which I can cut to fabricate new inserts to mount in the window spaces. The top itself is original and excellent so I do not want, or need a replacement. I have searched the web but found nothing so far. > > > > Has anyone been there and done that?
